The "National Young Farmers Festival," a celebration for high school students specializing in agriculture, is returning to Daegu after a 14-year hiatus.

With cutting-edge AI agricultural technologies—poised to lead the future of the industry—gathering in the heart of the city, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the future of farming firsthand.

The 55th National Young Farmers Festival (2026 FFK) will take place at Daegu Agricultural Meister High School from the 15th to the 17th.

A total of 1,561 people will participate, including 1,041 student representatives selected from 14 cities and provinces nationwide, and the event is expected to draw approximately 10,000 visitors. The festival's slogan is "Innovation Today for Tomorrow! Soar with AI Agriculture!"

The festival features a diverse program, including competitions across 18 categories, agricultural technology exhibitions and hands-on experiences, and international seminars. Participants will compete in various areas, including six specialized contests (such as plant and animal resources), eight practical skill contests (including smart farm operations, dog grooming, baking, and landscape construction), and four project presentation categories.

Seventy-nine exhibition and experience booths will be set up on the outdoor athletic field. Major agricultural machinery companies—such as Daedong, LS, and TYM—will showcase autonomous tractors and agricultural drones, allowing visitors to see and experience the latest agricultural technologies in person.

Notably, this festival highlights a shift in perspective, viewing agriculture not merely as production but as a high-tech industry. Visitors can see at a glance how future-oriented agriculture—integrating AI, robotics, and smart farms—is being realized in practice. By showcasing AI agriculture and smart farm educational models in the middle of a major city, the event also suggests new possibilities for the convergence of urban life and agriculture. Side events include the FFK Golden Bell quiz competition, an arts festival, and an international seminar featuring 13 delegates from Thailand and Japan. Through these activities, the organizers plan to share the achievements of Korea’s agricultural education and expand exchanges with agricultural educational institutions abroad.

This marks the third time the National Young Farmers Festival is being held in Daegu, following events in 1998 and 2012. As the festival returns to the city after a 14-year hiatus, the local agricultural community holds high expectations for the event.

Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan City Office of Education, stated, "I hope this competition, held in Daegu—the educational capital of South Korea—serves as a turning point for our agriculture sector, powered by AI technology, to leap onto the global stage." She added, "We will provide our full support to ensure that young farmers can discover new opportunities and visions amidst these cutting-edge technologies."
