【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 대구시당이 교육부의 ‘서울대 10개 만들기’ 1차 선정에서 제외된 경북대의 후속 선정을 당 지도부에 요청하고 나섰다.

민주당 대구시당은 지난 14일 제3차 상무위원회의를 열고 경북대의 후속 선정을 촉구하는 결의문을 채택했다고 15일 밝혔다.

대구시당은 결의문을 통해 경북대가 지역 인재 양성과 산업 혁신을 이끄는 거점 대학으로 성장할 수 있도록 후속 선정이 이뤄져야 한다고 강조했다.

특히 경북대의 후속 선정이 대구·경북의 지방주도성장을 견인하고 지역 거점대학의 경쟁력을 높이는 데 필요한 과제라고 주장했다.

박형룡 민주당 대구시당 위원장은 “경북대의 ‘서울대 10개 만들기’ 후속 선정은 대구·경북이 5극 3특의 지방주도성장을 이끌어가는 5극 중 하나의 극으로 가기 위해 반드시 필요한 과제”라고 말했다.

이어 “경북대가 지역 인재 양성과 산업 혁신을 이끄는 거점으로 성장할 수 있도록 당 지도부에 지속적으로 건의하고, 후속 선정이 이루어질 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

박 위원장은 15일 전국 시·도당위원장 연석회의에 참석한 뒤 국회를 방문해 결의문을 당 지도부에 전달하고 경북대 후속 선정에 대한 지원을 요청할 예정이다.

대구시당은 경북대가 지역 내 우수 인재를 육성하고 지역 산업과 연계한 혁신을 이끌 수 있도록 정치권과 정부 차원의 정책적 지원이 필요하다는 입장이다.

한편 교육부의 ‘서울대 10개 만들기’ 사업은 지역 거점대학의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 정책으로 추진되고 있으며, 경북대는 1차 선정 대상에서 제외됐다. 민주당 대구시당은 경북대의 후속 선정이 이뤄질 수 있도록 당 차원의 건의를 이어갈 계획이다.

He added, "We will continuously urge the party leadership to help KNU grow into a hub for fostering local talent and driving industrial innovation, and we will actively work to ensure its subsequent selection."

Following his attendance at a joint meeting of city and provincial party chairpersons on the 15th, Chairman Park plans to visit the National Assembly to deliver the resolution to the party leadership and request support for KNU’s subsequent selection.

The Daegu City Committee maintains that policy support from both the political sphere and the government is necessary to enable KNU to cultivate outstanding local talent and lead innovation linked to regional industries.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education’s "Creating 10 Seoul National Universities" project is being pursued to strengthen the competitiveness of regional hub universities; KNU was excluded from the initial selection round. The Democratic Party’s Daegu City Committee plans to continue making proposals at the party level to secure KNU’s selection in the subsequent round.
