【브레이크뉴스 경북 경주】이성현 기자=한국수력원자력(사장 정재훈, 이하 한수원)은 28일 현대에너지솔루션㈜, ㈜해밀에너지, ㈜에이제이해밀솔라와 고흥 해창만 염해농지 300㎿급 태양광발전사업 공동개발 양해각서(MOU)를 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 서면으로 체결했다고 밝혔다.
‘고흥 해창만 염해농지 300㎿급 태양광발전사업’은 전라남도 고흥군 포두면 해창만 일대에 위치한 염해농지를 활용해 태양광발전시설을 건설하는 것이다. 총사업비는 약 3,770억원으로, 2021년 11월 착공, 2023년 10월 준공을 목표로 진행하고 있으며, 준공 후 고흥군 약 34,800가구가 3년간 사용할 수 있는 연간 약 370,000MWh의 전기를 생산하게 된다.
염해농지는 간척지 가운데 염도가 높아서 발전소 부지로 일시 활용가능한 곳으로, 부지 임대료 지급을 통해 농가에는 안정적인 소득을 제공하고, 주민들의 일자리 확보는 물론, 신규 일자리 창출에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 특히, 한수원은 20년간 태양광 발전부지로 사용한 후 다시 농지로 활용할 수 있도록 고흥군 및 지역주민과 충분히 상의해 주변 환경에 영향을 주지 않도록 사업을 진행한다는 방침이다.
정재훈 한수원 사장은 “이번 MOU를 계기로 친환경 에너지 생산은 물론 농가 소득 증대와 일자리 창출 등 지역 주민과 상생 발전할 수 있는 발전소 건설을 위해 노력하겠다”며, “앞으로도 한국판 그린뉴딜 실현을 선도해나가는 종합에너지기업으로서의 역할에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
