故이임수 경주동국대 명예교수 유족, 학과발전기금 1천만원 기부

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=동국대 경주캠퍼스 국어국문학과 고(故) 이임수 명예교수 유족이 국어국문학과 발전기금으로 1천만 원을 기부했다. 이임수 교수의 배우자 김을조 여사는 5일, 동국대학교와 국어국문학과의 발전을 위해 써달라며 장학금을 전달했다.

 

 고인은 1952년 대구에서 태어나 경북고등학교를 졸업하고 1988년 경북대학교에서 문학박사 학위를 받았다. 1983년 동국대 경주캠퍼스 전임강사로 부임해 교수회장, 교무처장 등을 역임했다.

 

2017년 정년퇴임하기까지 30여 년 동안 후학을 지도하고 제자를 양성하는 교육자로 일생을 바쳤다. 또한 시인으로, 문화인으로 지역사회의 교육문화 창달을 위해 노력했다.

 

 저서로는 '려가연구', '월명의 삶과 예술', '향가와 서라벌 기행', '한국시가문학사', '한국의 고대시가-향가' 등이 있다. 시집으로 '수유꽃 피더니 하마 산꿩이 울고', '구름이나 쳐다보는 하느님', '사랑, 그 한없는 집착으로부터', '봄날의 사진 한 장' 등이 있다. 경주문화축제위원회 초대 위원장, (사)새벽을 여는 아름다운 청소년의 모임 이사장 등을 역임했다.

 

 이영경 동국대 경주캠퍼스총장은 “한평생 국문학자로 후학들을 길러내셨던 이 교수님은 재직 당시에도 학과와 제자들에 대해 각별한 애정을 가진 분이셨으며 학교와 학과 발전을 위해 꾸준히 기부를 해 오셨다”라고 회고하였다. 그리고 “고인과 유가족의 뜻을 깊이 새겨 동국대가 명문사학의 위상을 이어 나가는 데 사용되도록 하겠다.”라고 소감을 밝혔다.

He devoted his life as an educator to teach and train students for more than 30 years before retiring from retirement in 2017. He also worked as a poet and culturalist to promote the educational culture of the community.

 

 His books include'Ryoga Studies','The Life and Art of the Moon','Hyangga and Seorabol Travel','Korean Poetry Literature History', and'Korean Ancient Poetry-Hyangga'.  Lee Young-gyeong, president of Dongguk University's Gyeongju Campus, recalled, "Professor Lee, who raised his younger students as a Korean literature scholar for a lifetime, had a special affection for the department and his students even at the time of his tenure, and he has been steadily making donations for the development of schools and departments." And he said, “I will deeply engrave the will of the deceased and the bereaved so that Dongguk University can be used to continue the status of a prestigious private school.”
