 포항해양경찰서(서장 한상철)는 제21회 국제 연안정화의 날을 기념해해양쓰레기가 없는 깨끗한 바다를 만들기 위해 민·관 합동 연안·수중정화활동을 실시했다고 8일 밝혔다.

이번 정화활동은 명예해양환경감시원 등을 함께 해양쓰레기가 많은 장소를 조사하여 이가리 간이해변과 죽천항 방파제 일대 2곳을 선정하여 코로나19 방역지침을 철저히 준수해 실시했다.

 

앞서 지난 5일에이가리 간이해변에서포항해경, 북포항 청년회의소와 정화활동을 실시했으며, 8일에는 죽천항 방파제에서 포항해경,포스코 클린오션봉사단, 포항스틸러스, 해양환경공단 포항지사, 한국해양구조협회 경북지부, 명예해양환경감시원 등 6개 기관, 단체,업체 총 63여명이 참여하여 폐그물, 폐로프, 폐플라스틱 등 연안·수중해양쓰레기 약2.5톤을 수거했다.

 

포항해양경찰서 관계자는 “어민의 삶의 터전인 바다에 해양쓰레기가지속적으로 발생 유입되어 선박 안전 및 해양환경을 위협하고 있는 만큼 안전하고 깨끗한 바다 보전을 위한 해양쓰레기 줄이기에 국민 여러분의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다.”고 말했다.
