The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration (Chairman Hansik Kim) announced that it will recruit new organizers to participate in the 'Maker Space Construction and Operation' project by February 17th.

'Maker Space' is an open space equipped with equipment and facilities for manufacturing start-ups, and it is a space that supports the free implementation of innovative ideas and leads to actual start-ups.

Starting with 65 locations nationwide in 2018, makerspaces are currently being created and operated in 213 locations (20 specialized labs, 193 general labs), and 9 locations are in operation in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do.

This year, in order to promote manufacturing start-ups, 10 specialized labs with prototyping and mass production capabilities and 18 specialized labs (8 converted, 10 new) focused on specialized fields with great potential for development into manufacturing start-ups are planned to be selected.

The number of specialized labs will be expanded to 10, the largest ever, and support up to KRW 1.5 billion in funds required for equipment purchase, facility construction, and space operation.

In order to solve the difficulties in the production stage of startups that do not have their own production facilities, the support for specialized labs is planned to focus on establishing the first volume production system and securing collaboration capabilities with maker space and startup support organizations.

As for the specialized lab, the existing general labs are focused on stabilizing the operation, and around 8 general labs with expertise in specific fields such as metal and woodworking are converted to specialized labs, and 10 new labs are selected to reduce the construction and operation costs of facilities and equipment by up to 2 support up to Rs.

A specialized lab requires at least 1,000 m2 of dedicated space, and a specialized lab requires at least 100 m2 of dedicated space and must have professional operating personnel. Various programs are operated to support the activities of the public and professional makers, and it is operated as an open system at all times.

More detailed information, such as application qualifications and application conditions, can be found on the Ministry of SMEs and Startups website and K-Startup website. do.
