포스코1%나눔재단(이사장 최정우 포스코그룹 회장)이 VR(Virtual Reality, 가상현실)기술을 활용해 지역사회 발달장애인들의 직업훈련을 지원한다.

포스코1%나눔재단은 31일 포스코 천성현 기업시민실장, 명도학교 김재규 교장 등이 참석한 가운데 포항 명도학교에서 VR직업훈련센터 개관식을 가졌다.

  
포스코1%나눔재단은 이날 개관한 명도학교 VR직업훈련센터를 시작으로 포항시 장애인종합복지관, 광양시 햇살학교와 장애인종합복지관 등 총 네 곳에 문을 열고 직업훈련 인프라 구축은 물론 교육 프로그램 운영까지 지원한다.

  
발달장애인들은 VR직업훈련센터에서 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)에서 개발한 콘텐츠를 통해 바리스타와 세차 등 다양한 직업교육을 받을 수 있다. VR기기가 다양한 센서로 교육생이 과제를 잘 수행하고 있는지 자동으로 분석하고, 교육생은 즉시 실무에 투입 가능한 수준까지 숙련도를 높일 수 있다.

  
올해 교육은 포항과 광양지역의 40세 이하 취업희망 발달장애인 240여 명을 대상으로 4월부터 총 7개월 과정으로 진행된다. 교육과정이 종료되면 지역 내 장애인 채용을 필요로 하는 기업에 추천하는 등 지원을 이어갈 계획이다.

  
천성현 실장은 “기존 강의 방식의 교육으로는 반복 실습이나 안전한 학습시설의 확보 등의 제약이 있어 발달장애인들의 직무숙련도를 효과적으로 높이기 어려웠다”며 “이번 VR을 활용한 직업훈련 사업이 많은 발달장애인들의 취업문을 열어 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.

  
한편, 포스코1%나눔재단은 맞춤형 보조기구를 지원하는 ‘희망날개’ 사업과, 장애 예술인의 대중화를 지원하는 ‘만남이 예술이 되다’, 장애인 돌봄시설을 개선하는 ‘희망공간’ 등 다양한 장애인 자립지원 사업을 운영하고 있다.
