【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경북도와 구미시는 5일 구미시청 대회의실에서 보백씨엔에스와 이차전지용 절연제 생산 공장 건설을 내용으로 하는 투자양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
경북도에 따르면 이번 투자 협약으로 보백씨엔에스는 구미 국가산업1단지 내 1000억원을 투자해 2026년까지 이차전지용 절연제 생산공장을 부지 2만2560㎡ 규모로 소재 생산공정 증설하고, 일자리 창출과 글로벌 공급망으로 수출을 확대할 예정이다.
보백씨엔에스는 2012년에 설립해 2013년 절연재(PC, PP필름)를 자체 개발하고, 이듬해 LG전자 폴란드 법인에 양산공급을 시작으로 지속적인 R&D 투자를 통해 2017년부터 매출이 매년 연평균 30% 성장하고 있다.
현재 폴란드, 체코, 인도네시아, 캐나다에 해외법인을 두고 있으며, 최근 전기차의 수요가 급증하면서 EV(전기차) 절연재 생산을 확대하기 위해 이번 투자를 결정했다.
보백씨엔에스가 생산할 절연재는 EV(전기차)의 리스크로 뽑히는 누전·배터리 폭발사고 방지 기술에 최적화된 제품으로 평가되며 경쟁사 대비 얇고, 경량인 점도 강점으로 꼽힌다.
