고재완 교수는 경상북도치과기공사회 복지‧학술‧총무이사를 역임하고, 지역 주민을 위한 공원 급식 지원, 연탄 나눔 봉사, 틀니세척 봉사 등 지역사회 보건의료 활동에 적극 참여해 도민건강증진에 기여한 공로를 인정받았다.
