‘글로컬대학30’은 정부가 대학 안팎, 국내·외 벽을 허물고 지역·산업과의 파트너십을 토대로 지역-대학의 동반성장을 이끄는 지역 대학에 집중 지원하는 사업으로 2026년까지 30개 내외 대학을 지정해 1개교당 총 5년간 1000억 여 원을 지원하게 된다.

해당 사업의 예비선정을 위해 경일대(총장 정현태), 대구가톨릭대(총장 성한기), 대구대(총장 박순진)는 지난 26일 대구가톨릭대 본관에서 경북글로컬대학(GGU, Gyeongbuk Glocal University) 추진을 위한 협약을 체결했다.

3개 대학은 경북글로컬대학을 구성하고 지역산업 혁신과 정주인력 양성을 선도하는 세계적 수준의 연합대학을 위한 상호 협력에 뜻을 모았다. 

이번 협약에 따라 경북글로컬대학이 출범할 경우 재학생 4만7천 명을 보유한 국내 최대 규모의 연합대학이 된다.

이를 위해 △각 대학이 보유한 인적·물적 자원 공동 활용 △교육과정 · 산학협력 · 평생교육 등의 콘텐츠 공유 △각 대학의 교류 협력 및 주요 사업 등에 대한 상호 협력 △국내외 현장연수, 실습 및 취업기회 공동 제공 등을 약속했다.

계명대(총장 신일희)는 31일 학제∙학과∙전공 개혁을 위한 교육혁신 방안을 비롯해 지역과 함께 성장 발전하기 위해 대구시와 지역의 기업체들과 연계한 지산학혁신 방안과 국제화의 강점을 내세운 국제화혁신 방안 등의 내용을 담은 최종 혁신기획서를 제출했다고 밝혔다.

특히, 글로컬대학 30에 선정되기 위해 계명대와 계명문화대의 통합에 합의하고, 그 세부적인 사항들을 제시했다.

같은 학교법인 계명대학교 산하기관이면서 이미 하나의 캠퍼스를 공동으로 사용하고 있기 때문에 큰 비용을 들이지 않고 자연스러운 통합이 이루질 수 있다는 장점이 있어 양 대학의 통합은 타 대학들 보다는 유리한 조건에 있다.

앞서 몇 차례 통합에 대한 논의가 있어 왔지만 이번처럼 구체적으로 논의된 적은 없었지만 이번 사업을 위해 양 대학 모두 한 단계 발전할 수 있는 계기를 마련하자는 데 의견을 모았다.

이에 따라 통합계명대학교는 캠퍼스의 입지적 강점을 활용하고 산학협력의 허브 기능을 수행하는 Skills-first 특화 캠퍼스를 구축하게 될 예정이다.

통합계명대학교는 최근 세계적 표준으로 떠오르고 있는 Skills-first를 ㅗ입해 기업이 요구하는 수준별 적정인력을 양성하며, 재직자와 유학생의 재교육과 훈련을 지원하는 대학교육의 새로운 패러다임을 개척한다는 계획이다.

또한 통합 이후 입학생들을 위해 유연한 학위취득 및 다양한 융합전공이 가능한 시스템을 마련하고, 전문학사과정과 일반학사과정 교차 선택이 가능한 혁신안으로 학과 구분이 없는 융합단과대학을 운영할 예정이다.

이밖에도 혁신기획서는 대구시 5대 신산업과 연계해 미래모빌리티 산업을 이끌어갈 인재 양성을 위한 모빌리티 캠퍼스 조성에 대한 내용도 포함되어있다.

 이번 글로컬대학30에 선정되면 대구시와 기업들과 함께 대구시 미래모빌리티 산업에 더욱 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
