【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항해양경찰서(서장 김지한, 이하 포항해경)가 동해안 어민들의 중요 어족자원인 대게의고갈을 막기 위해 육상과 해상에서 입체적 특별단속을 벌여 대게암컷 7,600여마리를 포획한 어선 A호(7톤급)와 어린대게 600여 마리를 포획한 어선 B호(7톤급) 등을 검거했다고 밝혔다.

15일 포항해경에 따르면 이번 단속에서 대게암컷 7,600여마리를 포획한 어선 A호(7톤급)와 어린대게 600여 마리를 포획한 어선 B호(7톤급) 등을 검거했다.

먼저 육상에서는 대게암컷을 전문적으로포획한다는 첩보를 입수한 형사들이 9일간 잠복근무 끝에, 15일 새벽 대게암컷(일명 빵게) 7,600여 마리를 포획한 어선A호에서대게암컷을 탑차(박스트럭)에 적재하는 현장을 급습해 선원들과 육상 운반책 등5명을 현행범 체포했다.

또 해상에서는 형사2계(형사기동정)에서 지난2월 8일 밤 어린대게(9cm 미만) 600마리를포획하여 항구로입항하는 어선 B호를 해상에서부터 추적, 검문 검색해 검거하는 성과를 이뤘다.

김지한 서장은, “대게암컷은 대게 자원 회복에 중요한 역할을 하고 있어 소지, 유통, 가공, 보관 또는 판매가 전면 금지되어 연중 포획이 금지되어 있다고 밝히며 앞으로도 해양경찰 역량을 발휘, 어족자원 보호와 지역경제 활성화에 힘쓰겠다.”고 전했다.

한편, 대게암컷과 어린대게를 포획, 소지, 유통, 가공, 보관 또는 판매하였을 경우 2년 이하의 징역 또는 2천만원 이하의 벌금에 처하도록 규정되어 있다.

   Chief Kim Ji-han said, “Female snow crabs play an important role in the recovery of snow crab resources, so possession, distribution, processing, storage, or sale are completely prohibited, and catching them is prohibited year-round.    Meanwhile, catching, possessing, distributing, processing, storing or selling female snow crabs and young snow crabs is punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million won.
