미래세대 지원사업의 일환으로 2019년부터 ‘코딩 꿈나무 양성교실’ 을 통해 IT 교육 기회가 부족한 초등학생에게 코딩 교육의 기회를 제공해오고 있으며 지난 18일, 광양 가야초등학교를 시작으로 21일은 성남 분당 한솔초등학교, 4월 2일에는 포항 인덕초등학교에서 교실을 운영한다.

정규 교과과정으로 편성해 12주~15주 동안 방과 후 시간을 활용해 소프트웨어와 하드웨어 교육을 통해 단계적 문제해결 방법 및 논리적 사고를 함양할 수 있도록 도울 예정이다.

교육은 아두이노, 터처블 머신 등을 활용한 실습 위주로 진행해 참여한 학생들의 호응이 아주 높다는 것이 포스코DX측의 설명이며, 포스코DX 직원들이 강사로 참여해 재능기부를 함으로써 업의 특성을 활용한 사회공헌 활동이라는 평가를 받고 있다.

포스코DX 관계자는 “이번 프로그램은 어린이들이 코딩 교육을 통해 창의력과 논리적 사고력을 기를 수 있도록 돕는 좋은 기회가 될 것"이라며 "앞으로도 어린이들의 건강한 성장과 꿈을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다"라고 전했다.
