이번 행사는 포항시산림조합에서 주관하는 식목일 나무심기 사업의 일환으로 이루어졌으며, 특히 경찰청사 주변에 무궁화를 심어 나라사랑의 의미를 되새기자는 의미도 더했다.

이날 서장과 산림조합장이 함께 포항해양경찰서 정문 화단에 식목일을 기념하여 무궁화를 식수했으며, 직원 100여명이 동참하여 무궁화와 그 밖에정원수 묘목 200여주를 심었다.

김지한 서장은 “그 동안 경찰청사에 무궁화가 없어 아쉬웠다.”며 “이번행사로 나라꽃인 무궁화와 식목일의 의미를 되찾아보는 뜻깊은 자리였다.”고 말했다.

손병웅 조합장은 “싱그럽게 핀 무궁화가 포항해양경찰서를 찾는 많은 시민들을 반갑게 맞이해주길 바란다.”며 소감을 전했다.

한편, 포항해양경찰서는 이번 무궁화 심기 행사를 시작으로 청사 정문 주변을 무궁화 동산으로 꾸준히 가꿔 나갈 예정이다.

  Union President Son Byeong-woong expressed his thoughts, saying, “I hope that the freshly blooming Rose of Sharon will warmly welcome many citizens visiting the Pohang Marine Police Station.”

  Meanwhile, the Pohang Marine Police Station plans to steadily turn the area around the main entrance of the building into a Rose of Sharon garden, starting with this Rose of Sharon planting event.
