【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=지난해 12월 주택 화재로 화상을 입은 고려인 모녀 신 라이사(42·여)씨와 김 엘리나(13)양에게 치료비와 재활을 위한 성금 1억 6500만원이 전달됐다.

1일 경주시에 따르면 경북사회복지공동모금회와 초록우산 어린이재단 경북지역 본부는 이날 경주시청을 찾아 성금을 전달했다.

경북사회복지공동모금회 1억 3300만원과 초록우산 어린이재단 경북지역 본부의 3200만원으로 한수원이 지원한 500만원이 포함된 금액이다.

전달식에는 손병일 경북사회복지공동모금회 사무처장, 박정숙 초록우산 어린이재단 경북지역본부장, 김은수 한수원 사회공헌부장이 참석했다.

또 이들 모녀 돕기에 적극 나선 황소영 경주외국인도움센터장, 장성우 경북고려인통합지원센터장, 최대락 초록우산 경주후원회장도 참석했다.

지난해 12월 발생한 성건동 상가 주택 화재로 카자흐스탄 국적의 신씨와 김양은 각각 2도와 3도의 큰 화상을 입고 치료를 받아 왔다.

이들은 고려인 3세로 입국 6개월 미만의 외국인 신분으로 건강보험 등 공적지원을 받지 못해 어려움을 겪던 차에, 지역사회의 지원이 이어지며 주위를 따뜻하게 했다.

특히 경주시외국인도움센터와 경북고려인통합지원센터가 적극적인 모금활동에 나섰고, 방송을 통해 사연이 알려지면서 지원 문의가 쇄도하기도 했다.

앞서 경주시는 지난 1월 이들 모녀를 돕기 위해 지난해 행안부 주최 ‘제15회 다산목민대상’ 본상에 선정되면서 받은 포상금 1000만원을 전달한 바 있다.

주낙영 경주시장은 “화마로 큰 상처를 입은 모녀를 위해 지역사회의 많은 기관, 단체, 시민 도움에 감사드린다”며, “이들 모녀가 조속히 상처를 딛고 편안한 일상으로 회복할 수 있기를 희망한다”고 말했다.

Shin and Kim, both Kazakh nationals, received treatment for serious second- and third-degree burns, respectively, following a fire at a commercial house in Seonggeon-dong in December last year.

They were third-generation Koryo people who had been in the country for less than six months and were experiencing difficulties as they could not receive public support such as health insurance. However, the support from the local community continued to warm those around them.

In particular, the Gyeongju Foreigner Help Center and the Gyeongbuk Koryoin Integrated Support Center actively engaged in fundraising activities, and as the story became known through broadcasts, inquiries for support flooded in.
