이날 간담회에서는 집행부에서 제출한 영천시 교육발전특구 지정 공모 추진 등 12건과 의원발의 조례안인 ‘영천시 국가유공자 우선주차구역 설치 및 운영에 관한 조례안(박주학 의원)’에 대해 의견을 나눴다.

시의회에 따르면 영천시-라오스 외국인 계절근로자 도입 업무협약 체결에 대해서는 인력 문제를 해결하는 것도 중요하지만 이를 성공적으로 운영하기 위해 숙소, 근로환경과 같은 다양한 문제를 사전에 인식하여 빈집, 폐교 등을 활용한 공공형 숙소 마련, 교육 프로그램 제공 등 대책을 마련하여 사업 추진에 만전을 기해달라고 했다.

올해 개최된 영천한약축제에 대해 식당과 먹거리의 부족, 장소 협소, 접근성, 축제부스 운영미흡 등 방문객으로부터 다양한 문제점이 제기된 만큼 향후에는 부족했던 부분을 보완하여 지역 경제 활성화와 문화 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 시정해 주길 바란다고 말했다.

아울러 영천 보현산댐 출렁다리 환경개선 대책과 관련하여 개통 이후 많은 관광객들이 방문하면서 화장실 부족 및 환경정비 등의 민원이 발생하는데 이에 따른 문제 해결을 위해 정기적인 점검 및 유지보수, 제초작업 등에 각별히 신경을 써서 관광객의 만족도를 높일 수 있도록 애써주길 부탁했다.

또한 영천시 교육발전특구 지정 공모 추진과 관련하여 단순히 교육의 질을 높이는 것에 그치는 것이 아니라 지역 사회 전반에 걸쳐 긍정적인 변화를 이끌어 낼 수 있으므로 이번 공모 사업에 선정되도록 노력하길 당부했다.

마지막으로 저전력 지능형 IOT 물류 부품 상용화센터, 경북하이브리드부품연구원, 경북자동차임베디드연구원 등 총 5개의 연구기관에 대해 영천시의 핵심기관이 될 수 있도록 적극적으로 지원하여 신기술을 개발하고 연구 성과를 낼 수 있도록 해야 한다고 했다. 우리 시에 위치함으로써 일자리 창출뿐만 아니라 인재 양성, 시민들의 삶의 질 향상 등 다방면으로 중요한 역할을 할 수 있도록 해야 한다고 목소리를 높였다.

영천시의회 하기태 의장은 “이번 간담회에 접수된 여러 안건들에 대해 심도 있게 나눈 의견을 바탕으로 실효성 있는 정책을 수립하여 우리 시의 지속적인 변화와 발전을 위해 적극적으로 앞장서겠다.”라고 말했다.
