이날 연시회는 밀, 콩 재배농가 등 150여 명이 참석한 가운데 밀 수확 후 밀짚 파쇄, 배수 개선, 콩 정밀파종 방제 등을 이용한 밀+콩 전과정의 기계 작업을 선보였다.

시는 쌀 공급 과잉으로 밀, 콩 전환의 하나로 밀+콩 이모작 작부체계를 확립해 밀 재배로 유도하고, 제면용, 제과용, 제빵용 등 소비자 맞춤 품종 밀 재배단지 조성해 식량작물 안정생산 체계를 구축할 계획이며, 20~30ha 작목반 형태의 협업체계도 구축해 대규모화하고 있다.

또한, 우리밀 활용도 향상을 위해 소상공인과 농업인이 협업하는 구미밀산업발전협의체를 구성해 우리밀 생산-가공-홍보-판매 체계 구축으로 우리밀 자급화 확대에 박차를 가하고 있다.

한편, 시는 지난 4일 우리밀을 널리 알리기 위해 소상공인과 농업인들이 참여한 가운데 좋은 밀 생산 및 제품만들기 결의 낭독 및 퍼포먼스와 우리밀 품질 등급 검사 시연 및 우리밀 첫 수확(밀베기) 등을 진행한 바 있다.
