【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경북도립대학교(총장 김상동)는 교육부로부터 지난 7일 국립안동대학과의 최종 통합승인을 받아, 2025년 3월 ‘국립경국대학교’통합출범한다고 10일 밝혔다.

양 대학은 지난해 입학자원 감소, 지방대학 기피현상 등의 위기를 극복하고 지역과 상생할 수 있는 혁신적인 통합모델을 담아 글로컬대학30사업에 선정됐으며, 지난해 8월; 통합추진공동위원회구성 및 운영, 설명회·공청회 등을 거쳐 10월 교육부에 대학 통합을 신청했다.

통합대학의 교명은 ‘국립경국대학교’로 하고, 교육부는 ‘국립학교설치령’ 개정을 통해 통합대학 명칭의 법적 근거를 확보하고, 공유재산인경북도립대 교지·교사를 무상사용 또는 관리위탁방식으로 사용하고,교육부와 대학은 정원이 충분히 확보될 수 있도록 통합대학 출범전까지 관계부처와 지속적으로 협의해 나가기로 했다.

또한 기존 경북도립대 학생들의 경우 졸업까지 학제보호조치가 2030년까지 적용되며, 경상북도는 통합대학 출범이후 행·재정적 지원을 통해 통합대학의 안정적인 운영을 도모할 계획이다.

김상동 총장은 “새롭게 출발하는 국립경국대학이 전국 최초의 국공립대 통합 선도모델이되고, 전통문화 기반 인문특성화를 통해 세계적 대학으로 대도약 하기를기대한다”고 말했다.
