이번 프로그램은 그동안 게이트볼이 노인들의 전유 스포츠 활동이라는 인식을 전환하여 읍면 지역에 잘 조성된 게이트볼장을 활용하여 어르신들이 청소년들에게 게이트볼 지도 및 인성교육을 위하여 운영되고 있다.

특히 하반기에는 게이트볼 정식대회에 어르신들과 청소년이 함께 참가할 예정이다.

성적보다는 어르신과 청소년이 한 팀이 되어 목표를 같이 성취 해가는 모습으로 지역사회에 새로운 세대 간 공감 문화를 만들 것으로 기대된다.

손병복 울진군수는“세대공감 프로그램을 통해 청소년들과 어르신 세대가 함께 지역사회에 긍정적인 공감 문화를 만들고 어르신들의 지혜가 청소년들이 살아가는 미래에 많은 도움이 되었으면 한다”라고 말했다.
