18일 군에 따르면 이번 현장 소통의 날 행사는 김 군수의 임기 중 14번째이자 올해 6번째로, 삼사해상공원 상가번영회 회원 10여 명이 참석해 상권의 발전 방향에 대한 의견을 공유했다.

삼사해상공원은 1989년부터 연차적으로 개발에 들어가 1995년 망향탑, 1998년 경북대종, 1999년 야외공연장, 2005년 어촌민속전시관 등이 설치돼 지역을 상징하는 공원으로 자리 잡았지만, 조성된 지 30년이 넘어 새로운 발전 방안이 모색돼야 할 단계에 있다.

이에 김 군수는 이번 소통의 자리를 통해 △상가 앞 보도블록 교체 △ 무대공연 활성화 △포토존 및 야경 조명시설 설치 △안내판 및 입간판 설치 등의 건의 사항을 경청하고 구체적인 활성화 방안을 논의했다.

이밖에 배수로 막힘, 인도 풀 제거, 하수구 악취, 공중화장실 시설 개선, 상가 조망권 확보를 위한 환경정비 등 시설 보수와 관리에 대한 건의가 제안되자 김 군수는 현장에서 담당 부서에 이를 즉시 조치토록 했다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “지역의 관문이라 할 수 있는 삼사해상공원이 그 위상에도 불구하고 오랫동안 정체돼 있었던 것이 사실”이라며, “공모사업 선정으로 추진되는 강구항 어촌신활력 증진사업과 연계해 지역과 상권이 한 단계 더 발전할 수 있도록 민·관이 함께 힘을 합쳐 나가자”고 독려했다.
