【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 지역의 특산품인 복숭아의 우수성을 널리 알리고 복숭아 농가의 소득증대를 위해 7월 19일부터 8월 18일까지 약 한 달간 영덕읍 남산리 마을회관과 영해휴게소 일대에서 ‘복숭아 장터’를 개장한다고 밝혔다.

복숭아 장터는 산지에서 방금 수확한 신선한 복숭아를 중간단계 없이 소비자에게 바로 판매하는 직거래장터로, 영덕장터는 17개 농가가, 영해장터는 15개 농가가 참여한다.

장터가 열리는 영덕읍과 영해면의 두 장소는 7번 국도변에 가까이 있어 접근성이 좋고 주변의 다른 관광지나 편의시설로 이동하기 편리해 지역을 찾는 많은 이들의 발길을 붙잡을 것으로 기대된다.

영덕군은 이번 오프라인 장터 외에도 온라인쇼핑몰 ‘영덕장터’에서도 복숭아 장터 기간에 30% 할인하는 행사를 진행한다.

황대식 농촌지원과장은 “과거 임금님께도 진상한 제철 영덕 복숭아를 온·오프라인에서 편리하고 저렴하게 구매할 수 있는 다시없는 기회”라며, “다양한 마케팅과 판로 개척을 통해 최고의 복숭아를 많은 분들이 접하실 수 있도록 힘쓰겠다”고 전했다.

한편, 영덕 복숭아는 오십천 중심의 양지바른 사질토에서 충분한 일조량과 적당한 강우량으로 당도와 육질이 뛰어나며, 복숭아 장터가 열리는 7월 중순부터는 만생종인 경봉이 주로 출하된다. 특히, 올해는 작년에 비해 서리나 냉해 피해가 없어 고품질의 복숭아가 3,000톤 이상 생산될 것으로 예상된다.
