경북 의성군에서 대구경북통합신공항 항공터미널 위치를 놓고 거센 반발이 이어지자 잇따라 강경 발언을 쏟아내며 압박을 가하고 있다는 분석이다.

그는 “플랜B로 가면 토목공사 등으로 비용이 높아지고 기간도 2년 정도 늘어나겠지만 의성군에 약속했던 공항철도, 도로 등을 건설하지 않아도 돼 따져보면 나쁘지 않다”고 설명했다.

이와 함께 대구경북신공항사업의 수행 방식을 당초 밝혔던 특수목적법인(SPC) 설립 이외에도 대구시가 공동사업자로 참여하거나 단독으로 추진하는 방안을 검토하고 있다는 입장을 밝히기도 했다.

갈등이 심화되는 가운데 경북도는 12일 기자회견을 통해 입장을 밝힐 예정이다.
