【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자= 한국원자력환경공단(이사장 조성돈)은 31일 경주 라한호텔에서 2024 방폐물관리 연차대회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이날 요람에서 무덤까지 관리되는 무한책임의 자세로 생활방폐물에서 고준위방폐물까지 우리나라에서 발생하는 모든 방폐물에 대하여 방폐물관리 전담기관인 공단의 비전을 제시하고, 국민이 안심할 수 있는 한국형 처분시스템과 방폐물 분야 민간사업 등을 포함한 산업생태계 육성을 위한 ‘방폐물분야 솔루션 리더’의 역할을 제시했다.
또한 이를 달성하기 위하여 원전해체에 따른 방폐물 발생량과 4차 산업 기술을 활용한 스마트 방폐장 등으로 미래 산업에 대한 예측성을 강화하고, 해외 방폐물 전담기관과의 협력을 통한 네트워킹 강화, 사업위험성 관리와 연계한 사업연속성 인증 등 추진과제를 발표했다.
방폐물 관리 연차대회는 사업기간이 장기간 소요되는 방폐물 사업의 특성을 감안해 지난 1년의 성과와 앞으로 1년의 추진방향을 대내외 공표하는 자리로, 특히 이번해는 방폐물산업생태계 육성을 위한 산·학·연 연계를 위하여 방폐물학회 정기총회와 연계하여 시행하였으며, 성과 우수자 시상과 인력양성사업 성과발표 등과 함께 진행됐다.
방폐물 안전관리와 관련하여 ㈜BNRC 전태훈 대표를 비롯하여 한국펀드평가 송인욱 센터장, 울주군청 김연희 주무관 등 10명이 산업통상자원부 장관상을 수상하였고, 동경주사회적협동조합 이상희 이사장, 한국원자력연구원 김진섭 책임연구원 등 5명이 공단 이사장상을 수상했다.
공단 조성돈 이사장은 ‘한국원자력환경공단은 방폐물관리 전담기관으로 우리나라 방사성폐기물관리의 역사를 써가고 있다.’고 밝히며, ‘올해가 고준위방폐물 관리의 원년이 될 수 있도록 힘을 모아달라’고 말했다.

Korea Radioactive Waste Management Agency to Hold 2024 Annual Conference

The annual conference on radioactive waste management is a place to announce the achievements of the past year and the direction of the next year, considering the characteristics of the radioactive waste business that requires a long business period. This year in particular, it was held in conjunction with the regular general meeting of the Radioactive Waste Society to foster the radioactive waste industry ecosystem and to link industry, academia, and research. It was also held with awards for outstanding achievements and announcements of the results of human resource development projects.
In relation to radioactive waste safety management, 10 people, including BNRC CEO Jeon Tae-hoon, Korea Fund Evaluation Center Director Song In-wook, and Ulju County Office Chief Kim Yeon-hee, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, and 5 people, including Donggyeongju Social Cooperative Chairman Lee Sang-hee and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute Senior Researcher Kim Jin-seop, received the Corporation Chairman Award.
Chairman Cho Seong-don of the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency said, “The Korea Radioactive Waste Agency is a specialized agency for radioactive waste management and is writing the history of radioactive waste management in our country,” and added, “Please join us in making this year the first year of high-level radioactive waste management.”
