1일 안동시에 따르면 고독사, 우울증 등 사회적 관계에 대한 고찰과 극복을 위해 “인간다움,사회적 관계의 회복”을 주제로 진행되는 이번 포럼은, 세계 각국의 시장단,주한외교단, 국외 거주 독립운동가 후손, 국내외 석학 및 전문가, 학생, 일반 시민 등 1,000여 명의 뜨거운 관심 속에서 시작됐다.

기조강연을 맡은 105세 철학자 연세대학교 김형석 명예교수와 철학계의노벨상인 로저스상 수상자 서울대학교 이석재 교수는 각각 ‘누가 역사를 창조하는가’, ‘무엇이 우리를 인간답게 하는가’를 주제로 인간다움에 대한 성찰을 전해 참석자들에게 깊은 울림을 전했다.

이번 개회식에서는 인문 활동을 통해 건강한 사회 공동체 형성에 기여한개인과 단체에 수상하는 ‘2024 인문가치대상’의 시상식도 함께 진행됐다.

개인 부문 대상은 고립의 고통을 겪는 사람들을 위한 다양한 치유 프로그램을 운영하며 인문가치 확산에 기여한 조연현 작가가 수상했으며, 단체 부문에서는 지혜의 나무, 지관서가 등의 활동으로 인문학 심화확산을지원하는 재단법인 ‘플라톤아카데미’가 수상했다.

개회식 이후 이어진 ‘지금 당신은 안녕하신가요?’ 세션에서는 신기욱 스탠퍼드대 교수와 최병일 한국고등교육재단 명예 사무총장의 강연을 통해우리 사회의 현주소를 예리하게 진단하고 다양한 사회문제를 해결하기 위해 필요한 공동체 모델을 함께 제시했다.

세계인문도시네트워크(WHCN) 창립총회 역시 포럼과 함께 개최됐다. 안동을 중심으로 한 국제적인 인문 거버넌스 구축을 목표로 열린 이번 총회는 이탈리아 아스티, 그리스 코린트, 일본 가마쿠라 등 17개국 27개 도시가 가입 의사를 밝히며 괄목할만한 성과를 보였다. 이를 통해 21세기 인문가치포럼의 국제적인 저변이 더욱 확대될 것으로 전망된다.

11월 1일에는 세계인문도시네트워크에 참여하는 도시들이 모여 인문가치를 통한 지속가능한 도시발전 방안을 함께 모색한다. 이와 더불어 ‘초경쟁 시대, 다름의 가치와 힘’ 세션과 ‘인문활동을 통한 공동체 연결과 회복’ 세션을 통해 현대 사회의 경쟁과 변화 속에서 개인과 공동체가 단절되지 않고 서로를 이해하며 연대할 수 있는 방안을 논의한다.

또한, ‘외로움과 고독: 고독이 고립이 되지 않게’ 세션에서는 고립과 단절을 극복하기 위한 인문적 시각을 제공하며, 사회적 연대의 중요성을 재발견하는 기회가 될 것이다.

폐회식이 열리는 11월 2일에는 AI와 초연결 시대에서 인간다움과 사회적관계 회복을 주제로 한 토크콘서트로 포럼의 대미를 장식할 예정이다. 권수영 교수, 박상미 교수, 송길영 작가, 김중혁 작가가 참여하여, 급변하는기술 환경 속에서 인간다움과 사회적 연대의 중요성을 탐구하고, 새로운 형태의 인간관계 형성 방안을 제시하며 포럼의 막을 내린다.
