시의회에 따르면 ‘초심회’는 외부 환경으로 인한 해양생태계 변화를 연구하는 의원 연구 단체로서, 김하영 의원을 대표 의원으로 김종익, 정원석, 김상일, 황찬규 의원이 참여하고 있다.

이번 세미나는 이차전지 제조공정에서 발생하는 염처리수의 적정한 처리방안 모색을 위해 개최했으며, 포항시 5개 유관부서, 포항산업과학연구원(RIST) 정우철 박사, 충남대학교 환경공학과 최영균 교수 등 총 15여명이 참석했다.

정우철 박사의‘이차전지 염처리수 처리 현황’에 대한 발표를 시작으로, 참석자들은 이차전지 제조업을 지속 가능한 산업으로 육성하기 위한 방안에 대해 의견을 나누며 다양한 제언을 했다.

초심회 의원들은 “포항시가 이차전지 핵심소재 중심도시로서 발돋움하고 있는 만큼, 이차전지 염처리수 또한 모범적으로 관리하여 이차전지 제조업을 지속 가능한 산업으로 육성할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
