중앙일보와 포브스코리아가 주최하고 산업통상자원부와 JTBC가 후원하는‘대한민국 신뢰받는 혁신 대상’은 창의적인 혁신과 도전으로 새로운 패러다임을 만들어 국가경제 향상에 기여한 공공기관과 기업에게 수여하는 상으로올해로 9회째를 맞는다.

울진군은 대한민국 원자력수소산업의 패러다임을 선도하며 지방소멸 위기 극복을 위한 해결책을 제시하고 국가경쟁력 제고에 기여한 점에 대해 높은 평가를 받았다.

울진군은 세계 최다 원전 10기의 풍부한 전력을 활용하여 수소를 생산하는 원자력수소산업을 미래먹거리로 판단하고 국가산단 조성을 정부에 선제적으로제안했으며, 국내 굴지의 앵커기업과 업무협약을 체결하여 국가산단에 입주할 기업을 발빠르게 확보하고, 정책 포럼 개최 및 정부·국회 설득 등 국가산단 후보지로서의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 적극적인 유치활동을 전개했다.

그 결과, 지난 6월 신규 국가산단 후보지 중 최초로 예비타당성조사 면제라는성과를 얻게 되었다. 이는 울진 원자력수소 국가산단이 입주 수요가 충분하고경제적 파급효과가 크다는 점을 정부가 인정하여 국가정책사업으로 확정한 것으로, 산단조성 속도가 한층 빨라질 전망이다.

또한 지난 9월 군 단위 최초로 선정된 수소도시 조성사업을 통해 지역에서 생산한 수소를 일상생활에 활용하는 선순환 시스템을 구축하여 대한민국 탄소중립을 선도해 나갈 계획이다.

울진군은 원자력수소 국가산단과 수소도시 조성사업의 상호보완적 효과를 통해일자리가 넘쳐나고 사람이 모여드는 대한민국 청정에너지 허브로 자리매김해나갈 것이다.

동시에 농업·임업·어업 등 기반산업의 대전환을 통해 군민 모두가 안정적수익과 일자리를 보장받는 지속가능한 지역경제 구조를 만들어가고 있다.
