대구시에 따르면 복합문화센터(이하 센터)는 2021년 착공하여 2023년 3월 준공된 후 누수 등 시설 하자로 인해 개관이 지연됐으나, 부실시공에 대한 대구시의 엄중 조치와 철저한 보수·정비를 거쳐 이번에 첫선을 보인다.

센터는 혁신도시 인근 주민들의 여가·문화 공간 마련 등 정주여건 개선을 위해 지하 1층, 지상 3층 연면적 6,982㎡ 규모로 건립됐으며, 도서관과 수영장을 비롯한 다양한 시설을 한 곳에서 즐길 수 있는 복합문화공간이다.

센터 1층은 △ 수영장(성인풀 25m×6레인, 어린이풀 15m×3레인), △ 영유아 강좌실 및 전시실, △ 카페 및 커뮤니티 공간 등으로 구성돼 수영장을 이용하는 시민들은 물론 방문객을 위한 소통의 공간으로도 이용된다.
