【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도의회 포항의료원장 후보자 인사청문위원회(위원장 권광택)는 지난 17일 박성민 포항의료원장 후보자에 대한 인사청문회를 실시했다.

20일 경북도의회에 따르면 포항의료원장 후보자 인사청문위원회는 지역거점 공공병원장에게 필요한 리더십, 직무수행능력, 도덕성, 자질 등을 후보자가 갖추고 있는지 다각적인 관점에서 심도 있게 검증했다.

특히 위원들은 현재의 의료계 상황 하에 지역의료원의 우수의료인력확보를 위한 대책, 공공의료원으로서의 공익성과 수익성을 확보할 수 있는 방안, 열악한 상황에 놓여 있는 지역보건의료환경 개선을 위한 포항의료원의 역할 등에 대하여 후보자에게 집중적으로 질의했다.

아울러 의료특성화 및 우수 의료진 확보 등 포항의료원의 당면 현안사항 해결을 위하여 도의회와 적극적으로 소통할 것도 주문했다.

박성민 후보자는 “대한의사협회 감사 및 의장으로 활동한 경험을 바탕으로 직원간의 이해관계를 조율하고, 의료원 운영의 투명성과 효율성을 높여 지역주민에게 신뢰받는 의료기관이 되도록노력하겠다.”고 후보자로서의 포부를 밝혔다.

이에, 권광택 위원장은“도의회 차원에서 포항의료원이 공공의료원으로서의 역할을 제대로 수행할 수 있도록 최선을 다해 지원할 예정이니, 후보자도 의료원장으로 임명되면 포항의료원이 지역주민들에게 신뢰받고 의지할 수 있는 의료기관으로 자리매김 할 수 있도록 사명감을 가지고 직무에 임해 달라.”고 당부했다.

한편, 포항의료원장 박성민 후보자는 계명대 의과대학 신경외과 외래교수로 13년간 근무했으며, 동시에 신경외과의원을 30년간 운영해 온 전문가로서 의사로서의 전문성과 경영자로서 책임성을 두루 경험했다.

이날 인사청문위원회에서 채택된 박성민 포항의료원장 후보자에 대한 인사청문 경과보고서가 경상북도지사에게 송부되면, 포항의료원장 임명절차를 거쳐 제21대 포항의료원장으로 취임할 예정이다.
