【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 경주화백컨벤션센터와 경주시 일원에서 3월 18일부터 21일까지 4일간 ‘2025 피나클 어워즈 및 아시아 축제도시 컨퍼런스’가 개최된다고 4일 밝혔다.

행사는 경주시가 주최하고 경주화백컨벤션뷰로와 세계축제협회(IFEA World) 아시아지부가 주관하며, 태국·중국·필리핀·인도·말레이시아 등 15개국 200여 명이 참석할 예정이다.

이번 행사는 APEC 정상회의 성공개최 붐업 조성 등 사전 행사 성격을 넘어 축제를 경영과 산업 관점에서 접근하는 동서양 축제 전문가 그룹이 함께하는 특별한 자리가 될 전망이다.

참여하는 세계 축제 리더들은 세계축제협회 월드 스티브 슈메이더 회장, 텍사스를 축제 성공 지역으로 이끈 세계축제협회 월드 이사회 조 베라 의장, 퍼레이드를 통한 야간경제 활성화 전략 사례를 안내해 줄 미국 캘리포니아의 세계적인 파사디나 장미퍼레이드의 데이빗 이즈 대표, 아시아 대표 축제인 중국청도맥주축제 30년 경력 림싱위 수석컨설턴트 등 10여 명의 전문가들이 축제 경영 방안을 들려주게 된다.

특히 야간형 축제를 도입해 소도시 신 야간경제를 성공시킨 아일랜드 슬라이고 도시활성화재단 게일 멕기본 대표, 범죄마약 지역을 안전한 관광지역으로 재탄생시킨 더블린 도시활성화재단 제랄드 퍼렐 이사와 데이먼 블레이크 이사는 주목할 필요가 있다.

국내에서는 금산인삼축제, 무주반딧불이축제, 보령머드축제, 진주남강유등축제, 대구북구 떡볶이 페스티벌, 광주동구 충장축제, 천안흥타령축제 등이 참가해 저마다의 색다른 매력을 뽐낸다.

행사의 메인은 아시아축제 트렌드와 이슈 사례발표, 축제사례 공유의 장인 피나클어워즈 및 아시아 축제도시 컨퍼런스다.

또 축제산업 전문가로 구성된 세계축제협회 이사회와 2025 아시아 축제도시 지정식도 행사기간 함께 열린다.

국내외 축제 관련 기관과 도시가 참여해 펼쳐지는 아시아축제 전시회는 경주화백컨벤션센터에서 다음 달 20일부터 21일까지 펼쳐진다.

이번 세계축제협회(IFEA World) 이사회를 총괄하는 세계축제협회 아시아지부 정강환 회장은 “이번 이사회는 국내 최초로 세계적인 축제 리더들이 한자리에 모이는 의미 있는 자리”라며 “이번 아시아 총회를 통해 경주시와 대한민국 축제를 전 세계에 알리는 것은 물론 축제의 경영적 측면과 문화유산 활용적인 부분에 많은 도움이 되길 바란다”고 전했다.

주낙영 경주시장은 “APEC 정상회의 개최 전 세계적인 축제 전문가들이 경주에 모이는 것은 뜻깊은 일”이라며 “이번 세계축제협회 아시아 총회를 통해 세계인의 시각으로 경주의 문화유산 콘텐츠를 활용해 지역경제 활성화에 기여하는 방안을 적극 발굴하겠다”고 말했다.

The main events are the Pinnacle Awards and the Asian Festival City Conference, where Asian festival trends and issue case presentations and festival case sharing are held.
