이재명 대표는 지난 2016년 10월 '박근혜 퇴진' 촛불집회에 참석해 박근혜 대통령의 탄핵을 강력히 주장한 바 있다, 이 대표는 당시 성남시장으로 재직하고 있었고, 시장 신분에도 촛불집회에 지속적으로 참석했다. 이 지사는 이날 이 대표가 청계광장 촛불집회에서 박근혜 대통령 탄핵을 주장하고 있는 사진을 증거로 제시했다. 그러면서 “누가 더 정치적 중립을 위반했느냐”고 반박했다.

앞서 더불어민주당은 8일 동대구역 광장에서 세이브더코리아가 주최한 ‘윤석열 탄핵 반대’집회에 참석해 단상에 올랐다가 “정치적 중립 의무를 지켜야 할 이 도지사가 집회 도중 '정치적 발언'을 했다“며 더불어민주당으로 ‘지방공무원법 위반’이란 비난에 직면했다. 민주당은 이 지사를 관련법에 의거해 고발을 검토중인 것으로 알려지고 있다. 

이에 다하여 지역 정치권은 “성남시장이라는 선출직 공무원으로서 집회 참석이나 발언은 극히 제한된다는 사실을 당시에도 인지했을 것임에도 계속해서 행사 참석은 물론, 마이크까지 잡았다는 사실은 충격”이라면서 “특히, 이 대표의 발언은 다분히 정치적이다. 이철우 도지사의 집회 참석과 발언이 관련 법규를 위반했다면 이재명 대표 역시 해당 법규를 위반한 것이다. 법은 평등해야 한다. 누구 한 사람 할 것 없이 이철우, 이재명 두 사람 모두 고발해야 한다”고 주장했다.<메인사진:유투브 캡쳐>
