이번 교육은 2025 구미 아시아육상경기선수권대회 심판으로 투입될 핵심 인력을 양성하기 위한 교육과정으로, 경기 운영의 공정성과 원활한 진행을 위해 마련됐다.

국가기술임원(NTO, National Technical Official)은 경기 규정을 준수하며 정확한 판정을 내리는 육상 경기의 핵심 심판원이다. 세계육상연맹(WA, World Athletics)과 아시아육상연맹(AA, Asian Athletics) 규정에 따라 공식 자격을 갖춘 심판만이 국제 대회 심판원으로 활동할 수 있어, 이번 교육은 2025 구미 아시아육상경기선수권대회의 성공적인 운영을 위한 필수 과정이다.

2011년 대구세계육상선수권대회에서도 총 4차례의 국가기술임원(NTO) 양성교육이 실시된 바 있으며, 이를 통해 국제 기준을 충족하는 심판원을 확보해 대회를 성공적으로 운영한 경험이 있다. 이번 교육 역시 대회의 원활한 운영과 수준 높은 심판진 확보를 목표로 진행된다.

한편, 2025 구미 아시아육상경기선수권대회는 대한민국에서 세 번째(1975년 서울, 2005년 인천, 2025년 구미)로 열리는 대회이자, 기초 지자체로서는 최초로 구미에서 개최되는 국제 육상대회다. 아시아 최고 수준의 육상 선수들이 참가하며, 오는 5월 27일부터 31일까지 5일간 구미시민운동장에서 개최된다.

They will serve as the main referees of the 2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships and will perform roles such as game management and mediation of disputes between athletes.

Kim Jang-ho, the chairman of the 2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships Organizing Committee, said, “We expect that fairer game management will be possible by securing excellent referees who meet international standards through the training of National Technical Officers (NTOs),” and “We will spare no support so that the referees produced through this training can play a key role in the competition.”

Meanwhile, the 2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships will be the third competition held in Korea (Seoul in 1975, Incheon in 2005, and Gumi in 2025) and the first international athletics competition to be held in Gumi by a local government.
