대구시교육청에 따르면 이번 교육감의 현장 방문은 지난 10일 대전의 한 초등학교에서 발생한 사건과 관련해 직접 관내 늘봄학교 상황을 점검하고, 오는 3월부터 초등 2학년까지 확대 운영되는 늘봄학교의준비 상황 및 현장의 어려움을 지원하기 위해 이루어졌다.

대구세천초는 늘봄학교 통합 수요조사 결과 1~2학년 학생 452명 중 참여 희망자 310명대상으로 늘봄학교 운영을 준비해 왔다.

이날 강은희 교육감은 늘봄교실 및 늘봄지원실의 시설·환경, 학생 안전 이동 동선 등을 점검하고 겨울방학맞춤형 프로그램을 참관한 후, 교직원과 대화의 시간을 통해 현장의의견을 청취할 계획이다.

한편, 대구시교육청은 안전한 늘봄학교 운영을 위해 프로그램별 학생 출결상황을 확인하여 지각․결석이 있는 경우 학부모 연락을 통해 학생 소재를 철저히확인하고, 학부모 귀가 동의서에 따른 귀가지도를 실시하고 있으며, 늘봄지원실장, 늘봄전담사, 늘봄실무사뿐만 아니라 자원봉사자를 추가 배치하여 학생안전 귀가를 지원하고 있다.

또한, 학부모가 자녀의 하교 정보를 실시간으로 확인할 수 있도록 안심알리미서비스 및 초등돌봄교실 학생관리시스템(늘봄교실 입퇴실 알림)을 활용해 학부모에게 귀가 문자를 제공한다.

강은희 교육감은 “대전에서 발생한 사건에 대해 유족에게 애도의 뜻을 전한다.”며 “우리 아이들의 안전을 위협하는 요소들을 전체적으로 다시 철저히점검할 예정이며, 이런 사건이 다시는 일어나지 않도록 저를 비롯한 교직원 모두가최선을 다하겠다.”라고 다짐했다.
