이번 선언은 그룹 차원에서 보다 강화된 인권경영 체계를 수립하고, 국제화된 공급망과 글로벌 사업장에서 일관된 기준과 해결 방안을 정립하기 위한 노력을 반영한 것이다.

이날 행사에는 장인화 포스코그룹 회장을 비롯해 포스코, 포스코인터내셔널, 포스코이앤씨, 포스코퓨처엠, 포스코DX, 포스코스틸리온 등 6개 사업회사의 사장단과 임성택 법무법인 지평 대표변호사가 참석했다. 

장 회장은 선언문을 통해 “인권 존중은 기업의 지속 가능한 성장과 윤리 경영의 출발점”이라며, “이번 선언을 계기로 포스코그룹은 글로벌 사업장에서 인권경영의 모범이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

임성택 법무법인 지평 대표변호사는 “포스코그룹의 인권경영 시스템 구축은 기업의 고민과 진정성을 보여준다”며, 이번 선언이 ‘세계 사회 정의의 날’에 선포된 것이 더욱 의미가 있다고 평가했다.

포스코그룹은 지난해 10월부터 법무법인 지평과 유엔글로벌콤팩트(UNGC) 한국협회와 함께 그룹 인권경영TF를 가동, ▲그룹 인권경영 거버넌스 구축 ▲인권 실사 방법론 정립 ▲통합 고충 처리 메커니즘 마련 등을 수행하며 글로벌 스탠다드에 맞는 체계적인 인권경영 시스템을 구축했다. 

특히 포스코홀딩스 주도의 인권경영협의체를 통해 지주회사, 사업회사, 해외법인 간의 인권경영 표준화를 추진하며 상시 점검체계를 마련할 예정이다.

포스코그룹은 글로벌 사업과 이해관계자들의 인권 관련 위험 요인을 선제적으로 점검하고, 이를 해결하기 위한 인권 리스크 점검 체계를 가동하여 인권경영을 기업 문화로 내재화할 계획이다.

포스코그룹은 오는 6월 발간 예정인 포스코홀딩스 지속가능경영보고서에 인권경영 보고서를 별도로 수록하여 그룹의 인권경영 활동을 투명하게 공개할 계획이며, 글로벌 투자자들과의 지속적인 소통을 통해 인권경영체계 운영현황을 적극적으로 공유할 예정이다.

이번 선언을 통해 포스코그룹은 기업의 사회적 책임을 다하며, 지속 가능한 성장을 위한 인권경영을 더욱 강화해 나갈 것이다.

 POSCO Group Declares Human Rights Management in Compliance with Global Standards

In the declaration, Chairman Jang emphasized that “respect for human rights is the starting point of sustainable growth and ethical management for a company,” and “with this declaration as an opportunity, POSCO Group will become a model of human rights management in its global workplaces.”

Lim Seong-taek, the head attorney of Ji-Pyeong Law Firm, said, “The establishment of the human rights management system by the POSCO Group shows the company’s concerns and sincerity,” and evaluated that the fact that this declaration was made on the ‘World Social Justice Day’ is even more meaningful.

Since October of last year, POSCO Group has operated the Group Human Rights Management TF together with Ji-Pyeong Law Firm and the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Korea Association, and has been carrying out ▲establishing the group’s human rights management governance ▲establishing a human rights due diligence methodology ▲establishing an integrated grievance handling mechanism, etc., and has established a systematic human rights management system that meets global standards.

In particular, through the Human Rights Management Council led by POSCO Holdings, the company plans to promote human rights management standardization among the holding company, operating companies, and overseas corporations and establish a continuous inspection system.

POSCO Group plans to preemptively inspect human rights-related risk factors of its global business and stakeholders and operate a human rights risk inspection system to resolve them, thereby internalizing human rights management as a corporate culture.

POSCO Group plans to transparently disclose the group's human rights management activities by including a separate human rights management report in the POSCO Holdings Sustainability Report scheduled for publication in June, and plans to actively share the status of the human rights management system through continuous communication with global investors.
