이날 간담회에는 김일만 의장을 비롯한 의원과 의정회 회원 등 약 20여 명이 참석해 포항의 주요 현안에 대해 의견을 나누고, 지역 및 지방자치 발전을 위한 선배 의원들의 의견을 청취하는 시간을 가졌다.

한명희 의정회장은 "열린 자세로 의견을 공유하고 논의할 수 있는 자리를 마련해 준 시의회에 감사드린다"며, "앞으로도 의정회는 지역 발전을 위해 시의회와 적극 협력하겠다"고 말했다.

김일만 의장은 "의정회원들의 식견과 경험을 바탕으로 지역 현안에 대해 논의한 뜻깊은 자리였다"며, "선배 의원들이 걸어온 길은 지역 정치의 중요한 기반이자 미래를 위한 길잡이이므로, 앞으로도 포항의 발전을 위해 의정회 선배 의원들의 많은 협조를 당부드린다"고 전했다.

한편, 포항시 의정회는 시정 및 의정 발전을 위한 정책의 연구·개발과 시민의 복리 증진에 기여할 수 있는 제도를 연구·조사하는 단체로, 포항시의회의 전‧현직 의원들로 구성되어 있다.
