이는 경주가 3년 연속으로 어촌신활력증진사업 공모에 선정된 쾌거로, 2023년 2곳(150억 원), 2024년도 1곳(100억 원)에 이어 올해까지 선정된 것이다.

이번 사업은 민간투자가 아닌 지역 주민들이 주도하는 사업으로, 감포읍발전협의회를 중심으로 주민들이 직접 참여한 점에서 더욱 큰 의미를 지닌다. 

어촌신활력증진사업은 낙후된 어촌의 경제 및 생활환경 개선과 안전 인프라 확충을 목표로 하며, 2023년부터 5년간 전국 300개소에 총사업비 3조 원을 투입하여 어촌의 변화 기반을 만들기 위한 사업이다.

감포항은 ‘어촌 경제플랫폼’ 유형Ⅰ에 선정되어, 2029년까지 300억 원의 재정투입과 감포발전협의회의 153억 원 민간 투자 유치를 통해 수산업 기반 시설과 생활 서비스 복합시설 등이 조성된다. 

구체적으로는, 감포 문화 자산과 청년 단체를 활용한 ‘HIP海감포 센터(143억 원)’, 해양관광거점 랜드마크로 우뚝 설 ‘용오름광장 스카이워크(42억 원)’, 여름철 수영과 스노클링을 즐길 수 있는 ‘송대말 다이버사이트(35억 원)’ 등이 건립된다. 또한, 감포달빛광장, 적산가옥 아트길, 전촌 용굴~감포항까지 이어지는 바다산책로도 마련된다.

경주시는 2019년부터 올해까지 어촌뉴딜 300사업으로 5개 항에 총 414억 원을 투입해 어항 안전시설 개선 및 주민 소득증대 사업을 추진해왔으며, 지난해에는 해양 레저 관광 거점 조성(490억 원), 환동해 관상어펫 플라자 건립(202억 원), 동해안 내셔널 트레일 조성(150억 원) 등의 공모사업에 선정되어 해양레저관광도시로 발돋움할 계기를 마련했다.

김석기 외교통일위원장은 "경주시와 주민들의 뜨거운 관심과 참여 덕분에 얻은 결과"라며, "감포항의 새로운 활력이 지역 주민 소득 향상과 지역 경제 활성화에 도움이 될 것"이라고 전했다.

주낙영 경주시장은 “이번 사업을 통해 경주 관광 패러다임이 내륙관광에서 해양레저관광으로 변화될 것”이라며, “어촌신활력증진사업을 차질 없이 진행하여 어촌·어업인들의 삶의 질 향상과 소득 발전을 위한 기폭제가 되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.

Specifically, the ‘HIP Hae Gampo Center (14.3 billion won)’ utilizing Gampo cultural assets and youth groups, the ‘Yongoreum Square Skywalk (4.2 billion won)’ that will stand tall as a landmark for marine tourism, and the ‘Songdaemal Diver Site (3.5 billion won)’ where you can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the summer will be built. In addition, the Gampo Moonlight Square, Jeoksan House Art Road, and the seaside promenade connecting Jeonchon Yonggul and Gampo Port will also be built.

From 2019 to this year, Gyeongju City has invested a total of 41.4 billion won in five ports as part of the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project to improve fishing port safety facilities and increase residents’ income. Last year, it was selected for public contests such as the creation of a marine leisure tourism hub (49 billion won), the establishment of an ornamental fish pet plaza in the East Sea (20.2 billion won), and the creation of an East Sea National Trail (15 billion won), providing an opportunity to take a leap forward as a marine leisure tourism city.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee Kim Seok-ki said, “This is a result achieved thanks to the passionate interest and participation of Gyeongju City and its residents,” and added, “The new vitality of Gampo Port will help increase local residents’ income and revitalize the local economy.”

Mayor Joo Nak-young of Gyeongju said, “Through this project, the tourism paradigm of Gyeongju will change from inland tourism to marine leisure tourism,” and added, “We will carry out the fishing village revitalization project without a hitch so that it can become a catalyst for improving the quality of life and income development of fishing villages and fishermen.”
