시는 가용 인력과 장비를 총동원하여 신속한 제설 작업을 진행하고 있으며, 기상 상황에 맞춰 유관 기관과 긴밀하게 협력하고 있다.

대설주의보가 발효되기 전에 포항시는 시민들의 불편을 최소화하기 위해 유관 기관과 협조체계를 마련했다. 

소방서, 경찰서, 한국전력공사 등 관계 기관과 함께 상황에 대응하기 위한 유기적인 체제를 구축했으며, 대설주의보 발효 직후에는 전직원 1/3이 비상근무에 들어갔다. 

또한, 예비특보 단계부터 청소 차량, 굴착기, 덤프트럭 등 제설 장비와 제설제 24톤을 투입해 주요 도로와 산간 지역, 고갯길 등에 대한 제설작업과 사전 살포를 진행했다.

특히, 시내 지역 외에 눈이 많이 내린 죽장면의 상습 결빙 구간인 상옥리 샘재, 성법재, 가사재, 통점재, 하옥리 구간에서는 차량 통행을 위한 제설작업이 집중적으로 이루어졌다. 또한, 3일 오전에는 교통 안내 및 낙상 사고 예방을 위해 재난 문자를 발송하여 기상 상황 및 대설 대응 행동 요령을 시민들에게 적극적으로 안내했다.

3일부터 흥해읍에서 신광면에 이르는 도음산 구간과 지방도 921번 이리재 구간(기계면) 등 4개 구간은 안전을 위해 교통이 통제되었지만, 4일 오전 9시 현재 3개 구간은 통행이 재개됐다. 다만, 기북 성법리에서 죽장 상옥리 구간은 여전히 통제되고 있다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “강풍을 동반한 눈과 비로 인해 기상 상황이 매우 어려운 가운데, 시민들의 피해를 최소화하기 위해 행정력을 집중하고 있다”며, “시민 여러분도 교통 및 보행자 안전, 시설물 피해 등 안전사고에 각별히 유의해주길 당부한다”고 말했다.

포항시는 3일 오전 6시 30분 대설주의보가 발효되었고, 같은 날 오전 11시 30분에 해제됐다. 이후 오후 4시에 대설 예비특보가 내려졌으며, 4일 오전 6시에는 다시 대설주의보가 발효됐다. 4일 오전까지 일부 북구 산간 지역에서는 5cm 이상의 적설량을 기록했으며, 현재까지 포항시에서는 눈과 관련된 피해는 접수되지 않았다.

한편, 포항시는 2일 오후 6시 30분부터 강풍주의보도 발효된 상태로, 대설주의보와 함께 눈과 비가 계속 내리고 있어 기상 상황을 실시간으로 모니터링하며 긴급 상황 발생 시 신속히 대응할 방침이다.
