【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경북 경주에서 개최 중인 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 제1차 고위관리회의(SOM1) 및 산하 회의가 성공적으로 진행되고 있다고 경주시가 6일 밝혔다. 따라서 오는 10월 예정된 APEC 정상회의가 차질 없이 진행될 것으로 기대된다.

경주시는 2월 24일부터 경주화백컨벤션센터(HICO)에서 열린 제1차 고위관리회의가 10일 이상 진행 중이며, 각종 회의와 더불어 수송, 숙박, 자원봉사, 의료, 홍보 등 모든 부문에서 최고 수준의 지원을 아끼지 않고 있다고 밝혔다. 이번 회의에는 고위관리회의를 포함해 무역투자위원회, 경제기술협력운영위원회 등 4대 위원회 회의와 28개 회의체에서 100여 차례의 회의가 열린다. 회의는 오는 9일까지 14일간 진행된다.

경주는 전통과 현대를 아우르는 K-컬쳐 및 전통 문화를 알리는 부대행사도 큰 관심을 모았다. 경북도와 경주시는 HICO 내 경북경주홍보관과 전통미술 스틸아트 전시장을 구성하고, 야외전시관에 투명 에어돔을 설치해 전통 공연과 함께 한류 문화 체험 프로그램을 진행, 많은 호응을 얻었다.

Gyeongju City announced that the 1st Senior Officials' Meeting, which has been held at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO) since February 24, has been ongoing for more than 10 days, and that it is providing top-level support in all sectors including transportation, accommodation, volunteer work, medical care, and public relations, along with various meetings. Including the Senior Officials' Meeting, the Trade and Investment Committee, the Economic and Technological Cooperation Steering Committee, and 100 meetings in 28 conference bodies will be held during this meeting. Gyeongbuk Province and Gyeongju City established the Gyeongbuk Gyeongju Promotion Center and the Traditional Art Steel Art Exhibition Hall within HICO, and installed a transparent air dome in the outdoor exhibition hall to hold a Korean Wave cultural experience program along with traditional performances, which received a great response.

Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “The 2025 APEC Summit is an important turning point for a new leap forward for Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, and the Republic of Korea,” and added, “Based on our preparations for hosting this senior officials’ meeting, we will thoroughly prepare to host a successful summit.”
