6일 대구시에 따르면 우상혁 선수는 2월 28일부터 3월 18일까지 대구에서 훈련을 진행하며, 현지와 가장 유사한 환경을 제공받을 예정이다. 이번 훈련은 우상혁 선수의 목표 달성에 중요한 전환점이 될 것으로 기대된다.

우상혁 선수는 이미 올해 2월 9일 체코에서 열린 세계육상연맹 인도어 투어 실버 후스토페체 높이뛰기 대회에서 2m 31을 넘기며 금메달을 획득, 좋은 출발을 알렸다. 이어 2월 19일에는 두 번째로 참가한 인도어 투어 실버 반스카비스트리차 실내 높이뛰기 대회에서도 우승을 차지하며, 이번 대구 훈련에 대한 기대감을 더욱 높였다.

대구시는 우상혁 선수가 2025 난징 세계실내육상선수권대회에서 최고의 성과를 거둘 수 있도록 최적의 훈련 환경을 제공할 예정이다. 특히 대구의 뛰어난 훈련 시설과 기후가 선수에게 큰 도움이 될 것으로 보인다.

이재성 대구광역시 문화체육관광국장은 “우상혁 선수가 2025 난징 세계실내육상선수권대회에서 금메달을 거머쥘 수 있도록 전폭적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 강조했다.
