【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 10일 국립경국대학교 국제교류관에서 ‘국립경국대학교 출범식’을 성황리에 개최했다. 

이번 출범식은 2023년 교육부의 글로컬 대학 선정 이후, 국립안동대와 경북도립대가 제시한 대학 혁신 과제의 후속 조치로, 전국 최초의 국공립대학 통합 모델로 출범하는 ‘국립경국대학교’의 공식적인 첫걸음을 기념하는 자리였다.

이날 행사에는 이주호 교육부총리, 이철우 경북도지사, 박성만 경북도의회의장, 임종식 도교육감, 권기창 안동시장, 김학동 예천군수, 김형동 국회의원, 정태주 국립경국대 총장 등 대학 관계자와 교육부, 지역 인사, 동문 등 300여 명이 참석했다.

출범식에서는 통합 이행협약 체결, 대학 이상 선포, 국립경국대 UI(로고) 소개, 기념식수 등 다양한 행사가 진행되었다. 특히, 통합 이행협약은 교육부 장관, 경상북도지사, 국립경국대학교 총장이 함께 체결하고, 이를 통해 대학의 지속적인 발전과 지역사회 기여 방안을 모색할 계획이다.

국립경국대학교는 ‘진리, 성실, 창조’를 교육 방침으로 삼아, 미래 사회에 필요한 역량을 갖춘 인재 양성을 목표로 한다. 또한, ‘미래 시대 인재를 양성하는 경북 거점 국립대’라는 비전을 세우고, 이를 실현하기 위해 4대 전략 방향을 제시했다. 이 전략은 ‘미래형 인재 양성’, ‘대학·지역의 동반성장 확대’, ‘산학일체형 혁신 선도’, ‘지속가능한 대학경영’을 포함하고 있다.

대학 운영 체제도 새롭게 정비됐다. 통합대학의 행정조직은 4처 1국 1본부 1센터 1추진단 체제로 구성되며, 안동 캠퍼스는 인문혁신 및 바이오·백신 특화산업을 선도하는 지역 전략산업 분야를 담당하고, 예천 캠퍼스는 지역 정주형 인재 양성을 위한 공공 수요 인재 대학으로 운영된다.

학사 구조 개편을 통해 5개 단과대학, 12개 학부, 15개 학과, 43개 전공을 구성하며, 2025학년도 입학정원은 1,539명으로 책정됐다. 이를 통해 미래 산업 및 지역사회 수요를 반영한 전공 신설과 학문 간 융합을 통해 교육의 질을 높일 계획이다.

국립경국대학교는 경상북도를 대표하는 거점 국립대로서, 지역사회와 산업과 연계한 산학협력 프로그램을 활성화하고, 지역 내 공공기관과 협력해 지역 인재 양성을 위한 다양한 지원책도 마련할 예정이다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “국립경국대학교의 출범은 지역 대학의 혁신적인 도약을 의미하는 중요한 전환점”이라며, “경상북도는 국립경국대학교가 지역을 넘어 글로벌 교육 경쟁력을 갖춘 대학으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The event was attended by approximately 300 people including Deputy Prime Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho, Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Assembly Speaker Park Seong-man, Provincial Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik, Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang, Yecheon County Governor Kim Hak-dong, National Assemblyman Kim Hyeong-dong, and President Jeong Tae-joo of National Kyungkuk University, as well as university officials, the Ministry of Education, local figures, and alumni.

At the launching ceremony, various events were held, such as the signing of the integrated implementation agreement, the declaration of university status, the introduction of the National Kyungkuk University UI (logo), and the commemorative tree planting. In particular, the integrated implementation agreement was signed by the Minister of Education, the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and the President of National Kyungkuk University, and through this, they plan to seek ways for the university to continue to develop and contribute to the local community.

National Kyungkuk University aims to foster talents with the capabilities needed for future society by adopting ‘Truth, Integrity, and Creativity’ as its educational policy. In addition, it established a vision of being a ‘national university in Gyeongbuk that fosters talents for the future era’ and presented four strategic directions to realize this. This strategy includes ‘nurturing future-oriented talents’, ‘expanding joint growth between universities and regions’, ‘leading innovation in industry-academia integration’, and ‘sustainable university management’.

The university management system has also been reorganized. The administrative organization of the integrated university is composed of 4 offices, 1 bureau, 1 headquarters, 1 center, and 1 promotion group. Andong Campus is in charge of regional strategic industries leading humanities innovation and bio/vaccine specialized industries, and Yecheon Campus is operated as a public demand talent university for fostering local talent.

Through the reorganization of the academic structure, it consists of 5 colleges, 12 faculties, 15 departments, and 43 majors, and the admission quota for the 2025 academic year has been set at 1,539. Through this, it plans to improve the quality of education through the establishment of new majors reflecting future industry and local community demands and through the convergence of academic disciplines.

As a representative national university of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Kyungkuk University plans to activate industry-academia cooperation programs linked to local communities and industries, and prepare various support measures to foster local talent in cooperation with local public institutions.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “The launch of Gyeongguk National University is an important turning point that signifies the innovative leap forward of regional universities,” and added, “Gyeongsangbuk-do will continue to provide support so that Gyeongguk National University can establish itself as a university with global educational competitiveness beyond the region.”
