【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도가 벤처 및 창업에 유리한 환경을 구축하기 위해 중소벤처기업부의 2025년도 공공임대형 지식산업센터 건립 사업에 안동시와 예천군을 신규 선정했다.

두 지역은 각각 안동시 풍산읍 경북바이오산업단지와 예천군 호명읍 도청신도시 2단계 부지에 새로운 지식산업센터를 건립할 예정이다.

지식산업센터는 제조업, 지식산업 및 정보통신사업을 운영하는 기업들이 입주할 수 있도록 설계된 다층형 복합 건축물로, 비수도권 지역의 영세한 창업 및 중소기업들에게 저렴한 임대공간을 제공하는 시설이다. 이를 통해 지역 전략산업 육성과 일자리 창출, 경제 활성화를 도모하는 것이 핵심 목적이다.

경상북도는 이번 신규 지식산업센터 건립지로 안동시와 예천군을 포함한 전국 8개소 중 2개소를 선정, 최다 선점하며 중소기업 창업 기반을 강화하고 일자리 창출에 기여할 수 있는 중요한 기회를 얻었다. 

안동시와 예천군은 각각 설계비 10억 원과 5억 원을 우선 지원받고, 향후 5년 동안 국비 271억 원(안동시 160억 원, 예천군 111억 원)을 단계적으로 지원받게 된다.

안동시는 이미 2022년 지방소멸대응기금 공모에 선정되어 2023년부터 지식산업센터 건립의 사전 절차를 진행하였고, 2025년부터 본격적으로 사업을 착수한다.

예천군은 도청 신도시에서 ICT 육성을 위한 ‘경북형 클라우드 데이터센터’와의 연계를 통해 중소기업 창업과 청년 일자리 창출을 도모하며, 지역 활성화에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “북부권에 공공임대형 지식산업센터 건립은 지역 혁신 전략산업 유치와 청년 일자리 창출, 그리고 지역경제 활성화의 중요한 기회가 될 것”이라며, “경북을 창업하기 가장 좋은 지역으로 만들기 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do becomes the best city for ventures and startups

Gyeongsangbuk-do has newly selected Andong-si and Yecheon-gun for the 2025 public rental knowledge industry center construction project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to create an environment favorable for ventures and startups.

The two regions plan to build new knowledge industry centers in the Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Complex in Pungsan-eup, Andong-si and the second phase of the provincial government new town in Homyeong-eup, Yecheon-gun, respectively.

The knowledge industry center is a multi-story complex designed to accommodate companies operating manufacturing, knowledge industry, and information and communication businesses, and is a facility that provides low-cost rental space to small and medium-sized businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises in non-metropolitan areas. The core purpose is to foster regional strategic industries, create jobs, and revitalize the economy through this.

Gyeongsangbuk-do selected two out of eight sites nationwide, including Andong-si and Yecheon-gun, as the sites for this new knowledge industry center, securing the largest number of sites and gaining an important opportunity to strengthen the foundation for small and medium-sized business startups and contribute to job creation.

Andong City and Yecheon County will receive 1 billion won and 500 million won in design costs, respectively, and will receive 27.1 billion won in national funds (16 billion won for Andong City and 11.1 billion won for Yecheon County) in stages over the next five years.

Andong City has already been selected for the 2022 Local Extinction Response Fund competition and has been conducting preliminary procedures for the construction of a knowledge industry center since 2023, and will begin the project in earnest in 2025.

Yecheon County is expected to play an important role in regional revitalization by promoting small and medium-sized enterprise startups and youth job creation through linkage with the ‘Gyeongbuk-type cloud data center’ for ICT promotion in the new provincial government city.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “The construction of a public rental knowledge industry center in the northern region will be an important opportunity to attract regional innovative strategic industries, create youth jobs, and revitalize the local economy,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to make Gyeongbuk the best region for startups.”
