12일 이철우 도지사는 자신의 페이스북에 “엄중한 시기에 탄핵이 각하되도록, 뜻은 달라도 음이 같은 ‘윤대통령 각하’라고 부르는 운동을 벌이자”는 내용의 글을 게시했다가 얼마 지나지 않아 삭제했다.

이에 대해 민주당 경북도당은 “이성을 상실한 망언”이라며 “헌법질서 파괴 행위를 옹호하고 극우 선동을 서슴지 않고 있다”고 지적했다.

이들은 “2025 경주 APEC 정상회의의 성공적 개최로 경북의 재도약을 갈망하는 경북도민의 기대는 안중에도 없이 대권욕심에 사로잡혀 대한민국 민주체제의 수준을 훼손하고 국제사회에 불신만 초래하고 있다”고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 “이철우 도지사의 극우 행보와 망언을 강력히 규탄한다”고 강조했다.

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea has issued a critical comment amid controversy over Governor Lee Cheol-woo’s claim to call President Yoon Seok-yeol “Your Excellency.”

They criticized, “They are obsessed with their desire for power, without any consideration for the expectations of the Gyeongbuk residents who are yearning for a new leap forward for Gyeongbuk through the successful hosting of the 2025 Gyeongju APEC Summit, and are damaging the level of the democratic system of the Republic of Korea and only causing distrust in the international community.”

They also emphasized, “We strongly condemn Governor Lee Cheol-woo’s far-right actions and outrageous remarks.”
