이날 오전, 의장단과 각 위원장들은 포항상공회의소(회장 나주영)를 방문해 지역 기업의 현안과 애로사항을 청취하고, 지역 경제 활성화를 위한 방안을 논의했다.

김일만 의장은 “기업인들의 생생한 목소리를 들으면서 지역 경제의 어려움에 대해 무거운 책임감을 느낀다”며, “건의사항과 애로사항에 대해 적극적으로 해결 방안을 마련하고, 지속적인 소통과 협력을 통해 지역 경제 위기 극복을 위한 지원과 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 시의회는 침체된 지역 경제를 활성화하고 민생 안정을 도모하기 위해 2025년 예산 심사 시 소상공인 특례보증지원 사업비 출연과 이차보전금 사업에 20억 원을 증액했으며, 지난달 개최된 제321회 임시회에서는 「미국 철강제품 관세 부과에 따른 철강산업 위기 범정부 공동대응 촉구 결의안」을 채택해 철강산업 위기 극복을 위한 범정부 차원의 종합적인 지원책 마련을 요청하는 등 지역 경제 위기 극복을 위한 노력을 이어가고 있다.
