이날 간담회에는 김일만 의장과 이재진 부의장, 각 위원장들이 참석해 파트너사협회 김재열 회장 및 회장단과 함께 파트너사협회의 연혁과 주요 업무에 대해 청취하고, 철강산업 위기로 인한 파트너사의 어려움과 건의사항을 나누는 시간을 가졌다.

파트너사협회는 ▲글로벌 철강경기 침체 및 대미 관세율 인상, ▲포스코 설비 노후화로 인한 생산량 저조, ▲전기세 인상 등으로 기업 경영이 어려워지고 있음을 호소했다.

김일만 의장은 "파트너사협회가 봉사활동 등 사회공헌 활동을 통해 지역사회에 기여해 주셔서 감사드린다"며, "포항은 철강산업 위기의 영향을 직접적으로 받고 있는 지역으로, 지역 철강 경기를 회복시키는 것이 지역 경제 활성화의 첫걸음입니다. 시의회 차원에서 철강산업 위기 극복을 위한 지원과 협력을 아끼지 않겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편, 포항시의회는 상공회의소와 포항철강산업단지관리공단과도 간담회를 진행하며, 지역 경제 활성화를 위한 소통의 노력을 이어가고 있다.
