그는 "국민연금 개혁은 단순한 수치 조정이 아니라, 세대 간 형평성과 재정 지속 가능성을 함께 고려해야 하는 중대한 정책 결정"이라며 "국민연금 개편은 국민의 노후 보장과 국가 재정 안정성에 직결되는 사안이고, 복지와 경제, 조세 정책이 복합적으로 연결된 문제인 만큼, 연금특별위원회에서 충분한 공론화와 심도 있는 논의가 이뤄져야 한다"라고 주장했다.

이어 "연금제도는 국민의 신뢰 속에서 장기적으로 유지돼야 하며, 특정 정당의 단기적 정책 기조에 따라 좌우돼서는 안 된다"라며 "연금 개혁은 정쟁의 대상이 돼서는 안 되며, 반드시 사회적 합의를 기반으로 추진돼야 한다"라고 했다.

그러면서 "연금특위를 조속히 구성하고, 연금 제도의 지속 가능성을 높이는 실질적인 개혁을 완수하겠다"라고 밝혔다.
