【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도농업기술원은 최근 경상북도에서 개발한 고품질 밥쌀용 신품종 ‘다솜쌀’과 찰벼 신품종 ‘구름찰’ 종자 12.1톤을 도내 11개 시군농업기술센터를 통해 농가에 보급했다. 이는 총 242ha의 재배 면적을 지원할 수 있는 수량이다.

‘다솜쌀’은 2018년에 품종등록된 신품종으로, 단백질 함량이 낮고 완전미 비율이 높은 특성을 지닌 고품질 밥쌀용 품종이다. 특히 포항시, 경주시, 청도군 등 6개 시군에 11.3톤이 보급됐으며, 농가, 소비자, 도정업자 모두에게 호평받고 있다. 포항 지역 수출쌀 재배단지와 청도 지역 친환경쌀 재배단지에서 이미 브랜드쌀로 자리 잡았으며, 이 지역에서 생산된 ‘다솜쌀’은 2024년까지 아랍에미리트와 캐나다에 총 115톤이 수출됐다. 올해도 사우디아라비아 등 여러 국가에 11.5톤이 수출됐다.

한편, ‘구름찰’은 2022년에 육성된 품종으로, 현재 품종등록을 위해 재배심사가 진행 중이다. 일반 찹쌀 품종보다 알 크기가 약 30% 더 크고, 특유의 향기를 가진 중생종 찰벼로 지난해에 이어 경북 지역 농가에 시범 보급됐다.

또한, 농업기술원은 2024년에 증식한 ‘미소진품’을 포함해 벼 우량종자 18.8톤도 함께 보급하여, 경북 지역의 고품질 쌀 생산을 지원할 계획이다.
