【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항제철소(소장 이동렬)가 17일, 포항 효자아트홀에서 제철소 직책자와 그룹사 및 협력사 임원 등 800여 명을 대상으로, 국내 1호 재난 안전 박사 학위 취득자인 유인종 교수를 초빙해 안전 특강을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

유인종 교수는 삼성그룹에서 33년간 일하며 안전관리자 출신으로는 최초로 삼성 임원을 역임한 안전관리 전문가다. 국내 1호 재난 안전 박사학위 취득자로도 알려진 유 교수는 쿠팡에서 안전 분야 부사장을 역임하고 현재 경희사이버대학교 재난안전학부 교수로 재직 중이다.

'생각을 바꿔야 안전이 보인다'라는 주제로 진행된 이날 특강은 유 교수의 동명의 저서 '생각을 바꿔야 안전이 보인다'를 바탕으로 안전 업무를 담당하며 수십 년간 쌓아온 저자의 풍부한 경험을 공유했다.

강연은 안전이 중요해지는 시대적 배경부터 사고 발생과 예방 메커니즘, 안전 선진기업들의 특징, 임원 및 보직 간부의 역할 등 국내외 안전사고에 관한 구체적 사례와 함께 진행됐다. 특히, 이날 강연에선 근본적 사고 예방을 위한 '안전의 습관화'와 이를 실현하기 위한 안전 경영 노하우 등을 중점적으로 다뤘고, 임원 및 직책보임자의 역할에 대한 심도 있는 논의와 유 교수의 실무 경험을 바탕으로 한 실질적인 조언이 이뤄진 것으로 알려졌다.

이날 특강 행사에 참여한 포항제철소 제선설비부 김광욱 파트장은 “유인종 교수의 특강을 통해 안전의 습관화가 얼마나 중요한지 몸소 깨닫게 되었다”며 “실무에 바로 적용할 수 있는 조언들과 구체적인 사례들이 많아 안전 관련 업무에 큰 도움이 됐다”고 말했다.

포항제철소 관계자는 "앞으로도 전 임직원들의 안전 역량을 높일 수 있도록 필요한 교육들을 지속해나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
