이번 포럼은 인공지능(AI)이 경제 및 안보 분야를 포함한 국가 경쟁력의 핵심 요소로 자리 잡은 가운데, 포항시가 ‘국가AI컴퓨팅센터 유치’를 주요 과제로 삼아 국가 AI 산업 육성 정책에 대응하고, 미래 비전을 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.

강의를 맡은 송경창 원장은 행정고시를 거쳐 경상북도 일자리경제산업실장, 포항시 부시장 등을 역임하며, 30여 년의 공직 생활 동안 경북 AI 산업 육성에 큰 기여를 해왔다. 그는 4차 산업 지식 산업지구의 조기 완공, 스마트팩토리 정책 도입, 경북AI거점센터 설립 등 다수의 AI 관련 사업을 추진하며 경북의 AI 산업을 이끌어왔다.

포항시는 ‘포항형 AI 혁신 전략’을 통해 ▲글로벌 AI 인프라 구축 ▲AI 융자 및 펀드 조성 ▲전 산업 AI 전환(AX) ▲기업 글로벌화 지원 등을 추진하며 국가AI컴퓨팅센터 유치에 힘쓰고 있다. 포항시는 이를 통해 국내외 클라우드, 데이터 기업, 통신사, 투자기관과 협력하여 대한민국의 글로벌 AI 산업 강국 도약을 이끌겠다는 계획이다.
