【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 산업통상자원부가 추진하는 ‘첨단 기능성 소재 기반 시기능 보조기기 산업 육성’ 2단계 사업 공모에 선정되었다고 24일 밝혔다.
이번 사업 선정으로 경북도는 경산시와 대구시와 함께 2025년부터 2029년까지 총 140억 원(국비 80억 원, 지방비 60억 원)을 투입하여 고기능성 콘택트렌즈, 스마트 아이웨어 의료기기, 안질환 보조기기 관련 기업을 지원할 예정이다.
이번 사업의 주요 지원 내용에는 ▴시제품 제작 ▴시험·분석 ▴해외 진출 인증 등이 포함되며, 이를 통해 핵심 소재 제품의 국산화 및 해외 신시장 개척을 위한 종합적인 지원이 이루어진다.
경북도는 금형 코어, 금형, 콘택트렌즈, 렌즈 용액, 케이스 제조 등 20여 개의 관련 기업이 밀집된 지역으로, 오랜 역사와 높은 기술력을 자랑하는 안경·렌즈 산업의 중심지로 자리잡고 있다. 2024년 말 기준으로 경북 소재 콘택트렌즈 기업은 전국 81개 기업 중 30%인 25개 기업이 있다.
이전 단계인 ‘첨단 기능성 소재 시기능 보조기기 산업 육성 1단계 사업(2020~2024)’에서는 64개 기업을 대상으로 시제품 제작과 시험·분석을 지원하며 누적 매출액 217억 원과 신규 고용 214명을 창출하는 성과를 올렸다.
경북도는 이번 2단계 사업을 통해 첨단 시기능 보조기기 관련 기업의 기술력 향상, 전문 인력 양성, 상용화 촉진, 해외 마케팅 및 진출 지원 등으로 지역 산업 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
최혁준 경북도 메타AI과학국장은 “이번 공모 선정은 1단계 사업의 성과를 확산하고, 지원 범위를 확대하기 위한 후속 사업으로 큰 의미가 있다”며, “2단계 사업을 통해 시기능 보조기기 산업 생태계를 더욱 활성화하고, 기업의 연구개발 역량을 강화하며, 세계 시장 진출을 촉진할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

The main support contents of this project include ▴ prototype production ▴ testing and analysis ▴ overseas market entry certification, etc., and through this, comprehensive support will be provided for the domestic production of core material products and the development of new overseas markets.
Gyeongbuk Province is a region where about 20 related companies, including mold cores, molds, contact lenses, lens solutions, and case manufacturers, are concentrated, and it is established as a center of the eyewear and lens industry with a long history and high technology. As of the end of 2024, there are 25 contact lens companies in Gyeongbuk, which is 30% of the 81 companies nationwide.
In the previous stage, the ‘Advanced Functional Material Vision Assistance Device Industry Promotion Phase 1 Project (2020-2024)’, 64 companies were supported in the production of prototypes and testing/analysis, and the cumulative sales of 21.7 billion won and 214 new jobs were created.
Gyeongbuk Province expects that this Phase 2 project will contribute to the revitalization of the local industry by improving the technological capabilities of companies related to advanced vision assistance devices, fostering specialized personnel, promoting commercialization, and supporting overseas marketing and expansion.
Choi Hyuk-jun, Director of the MetaAI Science Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “This public offering selection is very significant as a follow-up project to spread the results of the first phase project and expand the scope of support,” and added, “Through the second phase project, we will actively support the industry ecosystem of visual acuity assistance devices to further activate them, strengthen the R&D capabilities of companies, and promote their entry into the global market.”
