이철우 도지사는 이날 오전 안동시 길안면사무소에 마련된 현장지휘소를 방문해 산불 대응 상황을 점검하고, 관련 공무원들에게 “인명 피해 방지와 문화유산 보호를 최우선으로 삼아야 한다”고 강조했다.

이철우 도지사는 특히 피해 취약 시설인 요양시설에 대한 사전 대피 조치를 신속히 시행할 것을 지시하며, 주민들이 안전하게 보호받을 수 있도록 철저한 대책을 마련할 것을 주문했다. 

또한, 문화유산 보호를 위해 국가지정문화유산인 만휴정을 방문해 산불로 위협받을 가능성이 있는 만큼, 방화선을 구축하고 방염포를 배치하는 등 특단의 대책을 마련해 반드시 보호할 것을 당부했다.

이어 도지사는 안동 임하 1리 마을회관을 방문해 사전 대피한 주민들을 위로하고, 불편함이 없는지 애로사항을 청취했다. 이 도지사는 이후 의성 단촌면 화재 현장 일원으로 가서 현장 대응을 지휘했다.

또한, 이날 오전 9시 도청 접견실에서 실·국장들과 긴급 대책회의를 열고 산불 확산 방지 및 대응 방안을 점검했다. 회의에서는 산림·소방 당국과의 협조를 강화하고, 주민 대피를 신속히 시행하여 인명 피해가 발생하지 않도록 해달라고 당부했다.
