이번 공모에 선정된 산업단지는 전국에서 총 3개소로, 경상북도는 구미 국가1산단을 대표로 포함됐다. 구미를 포함한 전북 완주와 경남 창원 국가산업단지가 선정되었으며, 이번 공모에는 8개 산업단지가 신청했다.

구미 국가1산단은 그동안 섬유산업과 전자산업 발전의 중심지로서 중요한 역할을 해온 곳이다. 그러나 문화시설 부족과 노후화된 기반 시설로 청년들의 기피 현상과 입주기업들의 인력난 등의 문제를 겪어왔다. 이번 공모사업 선정은 이러한 문제를 해결하고, 산업단지를 문화와 산업이 공존하는 매력적인 공간으로 탈바꿈시키는 중요한 전환점을 마련했다.

선정된 사업은 구미 국가1산단의 고유 정체성, 역사성, 문화적 특성을 반영한 통합 브랜드를 개발하는 작업으로 시작된다. 명칭, 로고, 색채, 디자인, 스토리 등을 포함한 통합 브랜드가 수립되며, 이를 바탕으로 산업단지를 대표하는 랜드마크와 테마 공간이 조성될 예정이다. 

또한, 산업단지의 근로자와 가족들을 위한 공연, 전시, 체험·문화 프로그램들이 운영돼, 근로자들이 문화적인 여가를 즐길 수 있는 환경이 제공된다. 이 외에도 노후된 산업단지 이미지를 개선하기 위한 미디어파사드와 같은 혁신적인 시설들도 도입될 계획이다.

이번 사업은 관계 부처들이 협력하는 패키지 방식으로 지원되며, 문화 및 편의시설 확충을 위해 토지 용도 변경과 용적률 완화 등의 특례가 적용될 예정이다. 

특히, 구미 국가1산단 내 방림 부지에 새로운 랜드마크가 조성될 계획이다. 방림 부지는 오랜 기간 비어 있었으나, 이번 프로젝트를 통해 공장의 원형을 살리면서 청년 수요를 반영한 지역문화·창업공간 및 문화시설을 결합해 산업단지의 핵심 랜드마크로 재탄생하게 된다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “이번 문화 선도 산단 공모사업 선정으로 청년층을 위한 다양한 문화·여가·편의시설과 문화 프로그램을 확충하고, 산업과 문화가 조화를 이루는 매력적인 산업단지로 변모시킬 것이다. 이를 통해 기업과 근로자들이 만족할 수 있는 환경을 만들겠다”고 말했다.

경상북도는 이번 공모사업이 산업단지의 새로운 성장 동력을 마련하고, 지역 경제와 문화 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Gumi National Industrial Complex 1 has played an important role as a center for the development of the textile and electronics industries. However, it has been experiencing problems such as youth avoidance due to a lack of cultural facilities and aging infrastructure, and manpower shortages for companies moving in. The selection of this public offering project has provided an important turning point for resolving these issues and transforming the industrial complex into an attractive space where culture and industry coexist.

The selected project begins with the development of an integrated brand that reflects the unique identity, history, and cultural characteristics of Gumi National Industrial Complex 1. An integrated brand including the name, logo, colors, design, and story will be established, and landmarks and theme spaces representing the industrial complex will be created based on this.

In addition, performances, exhibitions, and experience/cultural programs for workers and their families in the industrial complex will be operated, providing an environment where workers can enjoy cultural leisure activities. In addition, innovative facilities such as media façades will be introduced to improve the image of the aging industrial complex.

This project will be supported in a package format with cooperation from relevant ministries, and special provisions such as land use changes and floor area ratio relaxation will be applied to expand cultural and convenience facilities.

In particular, a new landmark is planned to be created on the Bangrim site in Gumi National Industrial Complex 1. The Bangrim site has been vacant for a long time, but through this project, the original form of the factory will be restored while reflecting the needs of young people and combining it with local culture, startup spaces, and cultural facilities, and it will be reborn as a key landmark of the industrial complex.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “With this selection for the Cultural Leading Industrial Complex Competition, we will expand various cultural, leisure, and convenience facilities and cultural programs for young people, and transform it into an attractive industrial complex where industry and culture are in harmony. Through this, we will create an environment that satisfies companies and workers.”

Gyeongsangbuk-do expects that this competition will provide a new growth engine for the industrial complex and greatly contribute to the revitalization of the local economy and culture.
