이번 조치는 산청·하동, 의성·안동 일대에서 발생한 대형 산불에 따른 국가적 대응과, 당분간 지속될 것으로 예상되는 건조한 날씨와 강풍을 고려한 산불 예방을 위한 것이다. 

기존 12개 구간에 더해, 하늘정원비로봉, 보은사관암사관봉, 수태지석조약사여래입상, 탑골안내소~철탑삼거리 구간을 제외한 전체 39개 탐방로를 통제할 계획이다.

또한, 팔공산국립공원은 불법행위에 대한 단속을 강화한다. 흡연, 취사, 통제구역 무단출입 등을 집중적으로 단속하며, 공원 인근 농경지와 산불 취약지역에 대한 순찰도 강화할 예정이다. 위반 시, 자연공원법 제27조 및 제28조에 따라 200만원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.

이승준 재난안전과장은 “전국적으로 산불로 인한 피해가 크기 때문에 국립공원 보전을 위해 국민들의 적극적인 협조를 부탁드린다.”고 당부했다.
